GABRIELLE VINCENT (author-illustrator)

Gabrielle Vincent is the children’s literature pseudonym of Monique Martin, born in Brussels in 1928. As a painter, she initially worked in black and white until the 1960s (ink, charcoal, pencil, etc.), then turned to color and explored new techniques such as watercolor, pastel and oil color.

A world-famous avant-garde children’s illustrator, notably for Ernest et Célestine series (published by Casterman), she received numerous awards for her work, which continues to touch our hearts. She died in September 2000, leaving behind nearly 10,000 works produced over 50 years.
